On August 27, 1992 diplomatic relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Armenia were established.
Since October 1992, the Embassy of Armenia has been operatingin Kazakhstan.
On March 1, 2007 the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan was opened in the Republic of Armenia.
Timur Urazayev is the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Republic of Armenia from April, 2016.
Gagik Ghalatchian is the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia in the Republic of Kazakhstan since 2013.
Since gaining independence, Kazakhstan and Armenian developed bilateral relations on the basis of partnership and mutual cooperation.
The main documents regulating bilateral relations are the Treaty on Principles of Relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Armenia, signed on January 19, 1993, and the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Armenia signed during the official visit of the President of the Republic of Armenia Robert Kocharyan to the Republic of Kazakhstan on September 1-2, 1999.
Kazakhstan and Armenia maintain confidential dialogue at all levels. They demonstrated mutual desire to enhance mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation during official visits of President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev to Armenia on May 23-24, 2001 and President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan to Kazakhstan on November 6-7, 2006.
On August 20-21, 2010, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev visited Armenia to participate in the informal summit of the CSTO member states.
On July 5-6, 2010, President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan participated in the 27th meeting of the EurAsEC Interstate Council in Astana.
On August 12, 2011 Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan attended the CSTO informal summit in Kazakhstan Burabai.
On October 16, 2015 Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan attended the in the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council session and in the Council of Heads of CIS.
Trade and economic relations
Foreign trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Armenia for 2015 amounted $4,6 million.
The main products exported by Kazakhstan to Armenia are grain processing products, different kinds of equipment, capacitors, panels, newspapers etc..
In the structure of Armenian exports to Kazakhstan are jewelry, equipment, rubber and factice, cognac, undenatured ethyl-alcohol, etc.
On 24-25 October 2013 Yerevan hosted the 5thregular session of the Kazakh-Armenian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation. Co-Chairman of the Kazakh part of the commission is the Vice-Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan E.Kosherbaev, Armenian - First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Armenia G.Bagiyan.
19-20 May 2015 in Yerevan hosted a trade mission of Kazakhstani businessmen.
Cultural and humanitarian cooperation
Cooperation in the cultural sphere between Kazakhstan and Armenia is based on the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Culture, signed in Astana in November 2006.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Armenia on August 27-29, 2012 Yerevan hosted the Days of Kazakhstan's films with the participation of "Kazakhfilm" delegations. Armenian audience saw the top 5 movies of Kazakh producers.
Five members of the Union of Artists of Kazakhstan took part in the second international symposium of plein air painting, which was held on October 5-19 2012 in Odzun Lori region of Armenia. Moreover, paintings of Kazakh artists were presented at the "Armenian paint" exhibition in Yerevan on September 9, 2013.
On October 7-9, 2014 Minister of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan A.Muhamediuly conducted a visit to Armenia.
17-24 June 2015 in Yerevan hosted the III International festival of young and young pianists A.Babadzhanyana, which was attended by young Kazakh pianists.
