NUR-SULTAN, July 2, 2019 –The First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tileuberdi met with members of the Executive Board of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the preparation for the 2nd session of the IOFS General Assembly to be held on August 27-29, 2019, in Jeddah.
Acting Director General of the IOFS Yerlan Baidaulet informed the participants about the documents to be approved at the 2nd session of the IOFS General Assembly. They will lay the legal foundation of the organization's activities and strengthen practical cooperation.
Chairman of the IOFS Executive Board and representative of Saudi Arabia, Abdulaziz Alhowaish, stressed that the Kingdom intended to keep providing comprehensive support to the IOFS and to allocate US$2 million in voluntary contributions to the IOFS Secretariat over the next 5 years.
The initiative to create the IOFS within the Organization of Islamic Cooperation was put forward by the First President of Kazakhstan – Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev. The IOFS is headquartered in Nur-Sultan. Currently, the organization includes 33 states of the Islamic world and its activities are aimed at mobilizing the efforts of the Muslim world in the development of agriculture and food potential.
